‘Mumtrepreneurs’ to hold Love Local sale

RETAILERS and artisans from in and around Henley will come together for a Love Local event this month.

RETAILERS and artisans from in and around Henley will come together for a Love Local event this month.

Sarah Kirk and Lynne Lambourne, from Peppard, were inspired to bring together local enterprises after the Henley Standard launched its Think Local campaign more than three years ago.

The friends have brought together a number of exhibitors for a home, interiors and garden market to be held at the town hall on May 16.

MrsLambourne, a mother-of-two, has her own business making children’s dresses and sourcing gift ideas.

She said: “Between us we have met so many inspirational local people over the past few years, many of whom are ‘mumtrepreneurs’. Our aim is to create a shop front to showcase their talents and passions.”

MrsKirk, who has three children, said: “Now that everyone has spring-cleaned their houses and the sunshine has finally arrived, we wanted to create the perfect opportunity to allow everyone to shop for some new ideas to decorate their home and garden, a chance for everyone to find that special something that cannot be found on the high street.”

Other stallholders include Henley photographer Mary Smith, Sue Chandler, who produces handmade scented candles, and Geoffrey Fisher, a designer who works exclusively in wood using traditional cabinet-making techniques.

Rebecca Aix will sell a collection of bags, cushions and accessories handmade in Britain from vintage and antique textiles plus a selection of vintage Indian kantha quilts.

The event will run from 10am-2pm. For more information or to register as a stallholder, email lovelocal market@yahoo.co.uk
