Sunshine boosts business

THE dry and sunny bank holiday weekend gave traders in Henley a boost.

THE dry and sunny bank holiday weekend gave traders in Henley a boost.

Peter Herbert, director of boat hire firm Hobbs of Henley, said the sunshine attracted many visitors.

He said: “We didn’t do quite as well as we have on previous bank holidays but it was still a good couple of days for us. We were on the go from 9.30am until the minute we packed up. The river trips were also very popular.”

Pino Battista, who runs the Henley Piazza café in Mill Meadows, said: “People came down to the park to enjoy themselves. We were very lucky that the warm weather came at a time when people are off, especially as it seems to be getting more unpredictable these days.”

Vicki Norris, manager of Temptation Gifts in Bell Street, said: “We didn’t do too badly. We had lots of visitors coming in and I think the half-term holiday helped.”
