Motor parts shop to be massage parlour

A FORMER motor parts store in Henley is to re-open next week as a massage shop.

Island Massage will be based at the former CMP premises in Reading Road, which closed earlier this year. Owner Iain Ryan relaunched the business as a battery specialist but decided it was taking too long to turn a profit.

Now he is opening the massage outlet with new business partners Violeta and Admoas Kasperaintiene, who ran similar ventures in Lithuania. The trio have spent several thousand pounds on converting the premises and buying new equipment including two hydraulic massage tables.

The shop will employ two qualified masseuses and offer a range of massages.

Mr Ryan said: “It was obviously a sad day when I stopped selling the car parts and associated products but it was a decision I had to take. Rent and rates are very high and I feel it is very difficult for traditional retailers to survive unless they have a unique product that no one else is offering.

“Because of that, we’ve decided to go down the service industry route. It’s something I had been talking about with my associates for the past 18 months or so. I want to emphasise that what we’re doing here is very tasteful and has been approved by the district council. All our staff are qualified and we have very good equipment.”
