A PUB in Fingest has won a gardening award. The Chequers won the best pub garden prize in the annual Brakspear in Bloom competition, which is open to all of the company’s 145 pubs.
Tenants Emma and Jaxon Keedwell have a traditional English cottage garden which Brakspear said she created “an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity”.
The couple won £1,000 to spend on the garden. The six runners-up included Doug and Lolly Green, of the Little Angel, and Graham Chandler, of the Rainbow, both in Henley. They receive a framed certificate and an external banner to mark their achievement.
Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said: “Our licensees clearly have a great talent for making the most of their outdoor space.”
