Store’s £3m makeover

WAITROSE in Henley was officially re-opened on Friday following a £3 million refurbishment.

WAITROSE in Henley was officially re-opened on Friday following a £3 million refurbishment.

The Bell Street supermarket has been redesigned to make it feel bigger with a new wine department and customer service desk as well as new service counters.

The store remained open while the work was carried out over an eight-week period.

Steve Dalton, assistant section manager, cut a ribbon to declare the shop open and there was a cake iced with the names of all the staff to celebrate the occasion.

Branch manager Alex Hume said: “The branch has been open for 20 years so it was looking tired. Our refrigeration system was struggling so we had to replace it and that allowed us to re-do all the fixtures and the fittings at the same time.

“The changes make the store a vibrant trading branch fit for the centre of Henley that hopefully will keep serving the residents for years to come.”

Mr Hume thanked customers and residents for their patience during the refurbishment process.
