A CONFECTIONER is offering to teach people how to make chocolate.
Keith Denyer, who owns Antes Chocolate Factory at Sheeplands Farm, near Wargrave, runs do-it-yourself workshops where visitors can mix and mould their own creations.
Mr Denyer, who runs the business with chocolatier Rosie Porter, relocated it from Windsor town centre last summer.
The company sells its chocolate at farm shops and outlets such as the Hare Hatch Sheeplands garden centre in London Road as well as at the regular Local Larder markets at Val Wyatt Marine in Wargrave.
Mr Denyer said: ?We make chocolate which we sell to farm shops and markets but what makes us different is that we also do chocolate workshops and parties.
?We can do anything from children?s parties to corporate team-building days. We can do them here or at the client?s premises and we have also used venues such as pubs and village halls.
?We can also go into schools and teach anything from the science of chocolate-making to the history of chocolate and where different types come from.
?We have been invited to Piggott School next month for an inset day with teachers from across Berkshire.?
Mr Denyer, from Waltham St Lawrence, had no hesitation about moving the business to Sheeplands Farm.
He said: ?We had to leave Windsor because it was too expensive. We sold a lot of chocolate but the area we were in had excessive rates.
?Wargrave is a lovely little village, which I?ve known it for a long time because I play cricket for Sonning. It?s a friendly village with a close-knit community.?
The Antes unit at Sheeplands Farm has a mini-factory with three moulding machines and thousands of individual moulds as well as a table which vibrates to remove air bubbles from the chocolate. The business uses Belgian chocolate.
Mr Denyer said: ?People need to know we are here because we are not on the high street. Once they know where we are and what we do, hopefully we can rely on word of mouth as we have already had some great feedback.?
