A NEW sporting event launched in Henley will be sponsored by Savills estate agents.

Henley Highwayman will be a three-day triathlon taking place in three stages, with athletes choosing which distance they want to complete.

Richard Maby, head of Savills Henley lettings, said: “The flexible distance and discipline idea provides an opportunity for many people to participate, perhaps raising money for charity, and to enjoy either a relaxed or more competitive weekend of well organised sport. We hope to see our clients, employees, friends and contacts join the motivated people of Henley and the wider surrounding areas for a fun and challenging weekend.”

The event is the idea of Jeremy Laming who also organised the annual Henley Swim competitions. He will be joined by Phil Harrison of Southern Sportive.

Mr Laming said: “Triathlon can be perceived as an elite activity pitched to a single, highly committed market but, in recent years, alongside its individual elements, it has secured massive increases in volume of participation and in its breadth of uptake.

“We believe Henley Highwayman has broad appeal satisfying all levels of competition.”

Henley Highwayman will take place on June 5 to 7 this year.
