After years of exhibiting, artist launches gallery

A GALLERY specialising in contemporary art and gifts has opened in Wargrave

A GALLERY specialising in contemporary art and gifts has opened in Wargrave.

Robin's Nest Gallery is in the former Willow Dress Agency premises on the corner of High Street and Church Street.

More than 60 people attended a launch evening, including artists, business owners and villagers. Owner Jo Sinclair, who lives in Langhams Way, said: "The launch evening went really well and lots of sales were made."

Ms Sinclair, who has lived in Wargrave for 37 years, has been a jewellery maker and illustrator for nine years and a needle felter for five.

She decided to launch her own business after showing her work at fairs and galleries across the country.

She said: "With this experience and many people asking if they could buy my work locally, when the opportunity came to take over this premises I knew it was the right time to do it.

"I want to bring beautiful hand-made work from across the UK to the local community to enjoy." The gallery sells glass, paintings, textiles, metalwork, jewellery, ceramics, prints and cards at prices from £2 to £2,000.

Ms Sinclair said she had more than 100 visitors on her first weekend, adding: "With so much to visit on the high street now, it makes a great day out for all the family."
