A SHOP specialising in alternative healing celebrated its 15th anniversary with a party for customers, writes Jamie Presland.

More than 50 people attended the event at Crystal Dragon in Prospect Street, Caversham, where they were entertained by a magician and guitarist and singer Alexa Goddard.

Earlier, the shop held an open day with free taster sessions for therapies including massage and yoga.

Podiatrist Evelyn Burt founded the Crystal Dragon as the Caversham Clinic in 2000 but expanded due to her interest in alternative medicine and healing crystals.

Mrs Burt, who lives above the shop, said: ?I opened the shop as my millennium project.

?We offer lots of different therapies, including massage, tarot card readings, yoga and meditation. There?s also a meditation garden at the back if people need some quiet space.

?I bought the property at the back of the shop so now we go all the way through to North Street. It?so big that people say it?s like the Tardis from Doctor Who.?

She said the party was very enjoyable and people sang songs.

?We had some of the first customers I ever had as well as some of the more recent ones,? said Mrs Burt.

?People come a long way to see us ? we have several customers who live abroad but come back and visit every time they are in the country.

?In the future, I would love somebody younger to come in and take over and take it to the next level. It has such fantastic potential and I want it to help more people.?
