Time to talk property

News and views from Henley’s estate agents and property experts. This issue, Christina Smith from rental firm Brookstones gets seasonal.

Spring has sprung! But will we see the normal spring boom market of available properties, or will the election stop or slow it down? It’s a question I am being continually asked by investors looking to buy to let in and around Henley.

The rental market continues to be busy with many potential renters looking for ‘affordable’ rentals and investment landlords looking for properties that will give them the best yield, as well continuing to offer a much–needed service to the town.

With the new pension law allowing people to withdraw their pensions to re–invest, we are looking at an even higher demand for ‘rentable’ properties with good yields.

At Brookstones we specialise in the rental market and are able to give an unbiased opinion on what will let and give a good return as opposed to what some sales agents may possibly be trying to offload!

We pride ourselves on seeking out the ‘gems’ for our investors, where a return of four or five per cent or more can be achieved.

Yet Henley does desperately need new housing stock to be built in and around town.

Not just for first–time buyers or second– or third–time buyers, but for the rental market which offers an invaluable service to the town and has done for many years but which is often, sadly underestimated and overlooked.
