THE River & Rowing Museum in Henley has been nominated for an award.
The venue is one of 20 put forward for the Family Friendly Museum Award, organised by Kids in Musuems and sponsored by The Telegraph.
Dea Birkett, director of Kids in Museums, said: ?There were more than 800, so the competition was very tough.
?The River & Rowing Museum stood out by offering interest and activities for all ages, not just the standard family with two small kids.
?The café was also particularly praised ? an important place for families. The River & Rowing is an excellent example of a museum making a big impact.?
Museum chief executive Ludo Keston said: ?We are delighted to have been nominated by local families for this prestigious award.
?I am very proud that families have chosen our museum and continue to enjoy their days out here.
?Our recent introduction of a family ambassador scheme has helped us to ensure that families have a voice in everything that we do at the museum.?
All 20 nominees will be scrutinised by a panel of experts in order to be shortlisted before anonymous families road-test the museums to determine which one offers the best visitor experience.
The River & Rowing Museum has already been ranked in the top 50 museums in the world by The Times.
