A CAMPAIGN to get better broadband speeds for rural villages is gathering pace.

Connect 8 is concerned that people in Howe Hill, Britwell Hill, Cookley Green, Greenfield, Park Corner, Pishill with Stonor, Russells Water and Swyncombe could miss out.

Five cabinets in Watlington have been enabled and connected to the fibre network. On subscribing to one of the service providers, residents and businesses should have internet access at 24 megabytes per second.

The group wants to find out how many residents have signed up for super fast broadband have noticed a difference in speed.

Co—ordinator Peter Richardson said: “Connect 8 have a good relationship with the Better Broadband for Oxfordshire Project team.



“We have been lobbying to promote the importance of extending the fibre network to support our aspirations to achieve connectivity to the so—called ‘last mile’.

“Following a number of approaches to Thames Valley Police we hope to make a start through the use of the masts at Britwell Hill.”
