Business networking group celebrates second anniversary

A BUSINESS networking group in Sonning Common celebrated its second anniversary.

A BUSINESS networking group in Sonning Common celebrated its second anniversary.

The Sonning Common Business Collaboration marked the occasion with a special event at the Butcher’s Arms pub in Blounts Court Road, where it holds regular meetings.

The group was launched two years ago by Kathryn Willis, of Churchill Crescent, Sonning Common, and now has 90 registered members.

Meetings are held every six weeks and there are speakers on topics ranging from use of social media and blogging to financial management and pensions.

At the anniversary meeting the talk was by Gill Chappell, of GPC Marketing in Henley. Mrs Willis, 39, worked in marketing for 13 years before retraining as a photographer. She now runs her own business called Kathryn Fell Photography.

She said: “I’m quite pleased with how the group has grown over two years. We have a real range of members, with people in their twenties to their sixties, from nail technicians to electricians. We try to support each other and recommend each other for projects. Rob and Ellie, who run the pub, let us use it free of charge and provide refreshments. Hopefully, the group will keep growing.”

The next event will be a festive “speed networking” session on November 30 while on January 11  the guest speaker will be Henley Mayor and businesswoman Lorraine Hillier.
