Removal firm on the move

A HENLEY removals and storage firm is moving across town after more than a century.

A HENLEY removals and storage firm is moving across town after more than a century.

Wilkins (Henley) Ltd, which has been based in Deanfield Avenue for 120 years, has submitted plans to build a new warehouse and offices in Newtown Road.

John Miles, chief operating officer, said the company had outgrown its current site and needed to expand.

He said: ?We need to have a more purpose-built warehousing for today?s usage and also new offices.

?It will be a wrench to move ? we have got lots of good memories and we?re hoping we?ll have the same feeling in Newtown Road as soon as we?re established there.?

The firm?s planning application will be discussed by Henley Town Council?s planning committee next week and South Oxfordshire District Council will make the final decision.
