A KITCHEN designer from Emmer Green has been made an inspector for his industry.

Gary Evans, 53, of Highdown Hill Road, was appointed by the Furniture Ombudsman and the Institute for Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom installers. He has been a member of the latter since 2008.

Mr Evans runs GD Evans Interiors, which specialises in designing and installing kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms and covers the Henley area.

He said: “The institute is about improving standards by vetting members and making sure they have sufficient public liabilities.”

The Furniture Ombudsman provides dispute resolution for businesses and consumers on services such as fitting and installation as well as disputes on goods across the retail, home improvement and furniture sectors.

Mr Evans’s role will be writing reports for the ombudsmen about disputes.

He said: “It’s a role that helps the general public, manufacturers and installers to solve disputes so they don’t have to go to court.

“I’ve also been invited by the iKBBI’s chief executive Damian Walters to be on their executive board.”
