SWISS Farm in Henley has been named the best place in Britain for a park home
SWISS Farm in Henley has been named the best place in Britain for a park home.
The development of about 100 homes off Marlow Road was recognised by Park Home and Caravan magazine.
It was nominated by Keith and Linda Knight, who have lived at the park for two years.
Mrs Knight said: “It’s a unique location and we’re lucky because we’re next to the number one camping site in the country as well. We’re in a countryside setting but there is good public transport access. There is a really good community spirit. It ticks all the boxes.”
The couple were presented with flowers for their nomination and the park received a cheque for £1,000.
Last year the Swiss Farm camp site, which is owned and run separately by Joseph Borlase, won an AA gold award for quality. The residential area of Swiss Farm has been owned by the Morrison family for 20 years and is aimed at people over 50.
Park owner Henry Morrison Snr said: “I was quite surprised to win but very happy. I wasn’t expecting it.”
He praised site manager Don Hilton, who has lived at the park for more than 50 years, saying: “He looks after everybody incredibly well.”
Resident Hazel Martin said: “It’s absolutely wonderful here. I have been here for 15 years and haven’t regretted a single day.
“Don is excellent, he could not be any better. Once my husband forgot his driving licence when we were visiting South Africa but Don got it sent to us by DHL straight away.”
Residents were invited to a buffet lunch at the on-site café to celebrate the award.
