RESIDENTS have backed plans to move Brightwell-cum-Sotwell’s post office into the village shop.

A meeting of 142 members of the Village Stores voted in favour by 59 per cent to 41 per cent against. The turnout was 56 per cent.

The existing post office in the Stewart Room at the hall is to close and the Village Stores in West End has been offered a contract to run a post office counter.

The shop is funded and largely run by volunteers, most of whom were entitled to vote.
