New shop for Market Place

HENLEY antiques and homeware shop Vintage Look has taken over the former Spirited Wines premises in Market Place.

HENLEY antiques and homeware shop Vintage Look has taken over the former Spirited Wines premises in Market Place.

The business, set up by siblings Scott and Michelle Parker in 2007, previously operated from a two-storey unit at the back of Market Place Mews but the mews is about to be redeveloped.

Catalyst Capital, the landlord, also owns the old wine shop so was able to offer the premises.

The shop now hosts 20 dealers instead of about 27 but Sue Silk, who has traded from the Vintage Look for three years, said it would benefit from having a more prominent location.

She said: “It has a much more open and airy feel and will still offer the same eclectic mix of goods.

“People are looking forward to seeing it. When the ‘closing down’ signs went up at the old premises, a lot of customers were heartbroken because they thought we were going for good.

“As well as bringing our regulars back, we’re hoping to attract some new business and might even get more tourists in.

“Unless you parked in the King’s Road car park, you were unlikely to know the old shop existed.”
