Clooneys 'buy home next to Thames'

GEORGE CLOONEY is said to have bought a house near Henley.

The 53-year-old was reported by a national newspaper to have bought a £5million home in Berkshire, where he plans to live with his wife Amal Alamuddin, 36, whom he married in Venice last month.

Internet rumours have suggested the celebrity couple’s new property is a riverside home in Sonning.

American magazine Us Weekly reported that the house is set back from the road to allow for privacy and close to a station.

The couple are also rumoured to be planning a second wedding ceremony at Danesfeld House, near Marlow, for guests who couldn’t make it to Italy.

Clooney is no stranger to the Henley area, having shot scenes for Monuments Men in Fingest in June last year.

Scenes for the wartime drama were shot at St Bartholomew’s Church and the cast and crew visited the village pub, the Chequers.

Andrew Morgan, of Greys Hill, Henley, went to the village to see the actors and had his picture taken with Clooney by the Hollywood star.

Speaking to the Henley Standard at the time, he said: “George Clooney was sitting down and I walked up to him and said that I was a great fan and was there any chance of a photograph? I gave him the camera and he took the picture. I think it was my golden retriever that won him over.”
