The celebrity childcare expert spent two hours signing copies of her latest book Toddler SOS at W H Smith in Bell Street on Wednesday.

She chatted with each family and gave them advice on issues such as fighting siblings and toddlers who refuse to sleep.

A queue of about 40 people had formed when Frost arrived and at least 40 more people, including nannies and au pairs, dropped in over the afternoon. Frost greeted visitors’ babies and toddlers, playing “peekaboo” with them, shaking their hands and asking them about their favourite toys and books.

After the event, she said: “Today has been great because parents have had lots of questions for me, which means I find out more about their needs. They’re ultimately the people I’m writing for.” Shop manager Leanne Brown said: “Jo was fantastic.

“She gave everybody the time they wanted with her, allowing them to take photos, and was brilliant with their children.”

She added that the shop would have more celebrity book signings.
