Extra on Brad Pitt film rushed to hospital

An extra has been stabbed in the shoulder with a bayonet on the set of a Second World War film which is being filmed in Shirburn.

An extra has been stabbed in the shoulder with a bayonet on the set of a Second World War film which is being filmed in Shirburn.

The man was injured during the filming of a battle scene for Fury, which stars Brad Pitt, at about midday today (Tuesday).

The victim, who is believed to be in his thirties, was airlifted to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford by the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers from Thames Valley Police were called to the film set but are not treating the incident as crime.

The Health and Safety Executive has started an initial probe into what happened.
