Presenter spends New Year's Eve on crutches

PHILLIP SCHOFIELD spent New Year’s Eve on crutches after injuring his knee in an accident while playing with a drone he got for Christmas

PHILLIP SCHOFIELD spent New Year’s Eve on crutches after injuring his knee in an accident while playing with a drone he got for Christmas.

The 53-year-old This Morning presenter, who lives in Fawley, tweeted a picture of himself with a bandaged leg.

His caption read: “When you fly your Xmas drone pressie into a pond and twist your knee trying to get it out!”

Phillip added: “Family still laughing at the sight of me floundering in 6ft of water and diving down to retrieve it. My father-in-law said it was like a Vicar of Dibley sketch.”

It was the second medical drama the family experienced over the holiday after Phillip’s brother Tim, who has Type 1 diabetes, was admitted to hospital with a mystery illness.

He was discharged from hospital just in time for Christmas and Phillip tweeted: “Best present ever. I have seen the absolute best of our astonishing NHS — not just in the perfect care for him, but also for us, his shocked family. You all know who you are. Thank you.”
