Comedian sells out

COMEDIAN Russell Brand will perform at the Kenton Theatre in Henley next week.

COMEDIAN Russell Brand will perform at the Kenton Theatre in Henley next week.

Tickets to see the town’s newest celebrity resident sold out in minutes on Tuesday evening after the show was announced on Twitter and the venue’s website. Tickets cost £20 each and were limited to four per person.

The 75-minute show, called “Russell Brand working on new ideas for a one-man show at a reasonable price in small theatres” will take place on Tuesday evening.

Brand, who moved to Henley last year, has already been given a guided tour of the New Street theatre.

Ed Simons, chairman of trustees, said: “It’s a coop for the theatre and we’re thrilled to welcome Russell. He came to visit a couple of weeks ago, loved it and decided he would try out a new show there.

“He wanted it done with very low PR and publicity to put it out for his fans and the show sold out in minutes. I’m sure many people were left disappointed but hopefully Russell could be persuaded to do some more.”

In February last year, tickets to see comedian Michael McIntyre perform at the Kenton sold out in 30 seconds.
