New 10km charity run

A NEW fun run will take place in Rotherfield Greys next month.

A NEW fun run will take place in Rotherfield Greys next month.

The 10km trail race will be held at Greys Green Farm on Saturday, September 17 at 11am.

It has been organised to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.

Alexander Hood, who owns the farm, has been undergoing chemotherapy since April last year.

Fraser Smart, his son-in-law, said: “He has long had a vision to turn the farm into a space to be enjoyed by generations to come and has planted several hundred acres of trees over the years to create that environment.

“The race provides an opportunity for people from the area to access areas of the farm and woodlands which are normally closed to the public.

“Everyone is welcome — it isn’t just for serious runners, although it would be good for people training to do the Henley half marathon a few weeks later.

“The idea is that is a fun day out for the family with races for children and an opportunity to picnic in the 11-acre Home Field where the race starts and finishes.”
