A garden party in Henley raised more than £100 for the town’s 60-plus club. More than 20 people paid £2 each to attend the party at the home of Ann and Chris Eggleton in Gainsborough Crescent. They included town councillors Lorraine Hillier and Mrs Eggleton’s son David. The guests were served tea and cakes and there was a raffle with prizes including flowers, vegetables and toiletries. It was the fourth fund-raising party Mrs Eggleton has held in the last three years. The garden, which features a pond and hanging baskets, has previously won a Henley in Bloom award. Mrs Eggleton, a member of the club in Greys Road car park, said: “I do it to try to persuade people to come to the club.”
