Runners mark world mental health day

A RUNNING group in Benson took to the streets on Saturday to support World Mental Health Day.

A RUNNING group in Benson took to the streets on Saturday to support World Mental Health Day.

Members of the Benson Striders and friends set off from the parish hall for a one-mile run to support the England Athletics initiative.

The participants, who included adults and children, could run, walk or jog the route and were led by Julia Hayes, the leader of Benson Striders. The aim was to improve mental wellbeing through running and break down the stigma associated with mental health by getting people talking about it.

Afterwards the runners met in the Benson Deli for a coffee and chat.

The group meets twice weekly at 8.15am on Saturdays at the parish hall and on Wednesdays at 7.30pm. For more information, email bensonstriders@gmail.com
