Helping children

A GORING charity has organised three events to raise money for impoverished children in Swaziland.

Changing Futures, which was founded by Fairfield Road residents Steve and Caroline Smith in 2008, is to host a concert at the village hall next Saturday (7.30pm).

Rock and pop covers band The Blunt will perform with support from a number of local groups and solo artists. Tickets costs £10.

A quiz night will be held at the village hall on March 24 at 7.30pm. Teams of six to eight people are welcome. Tickets cost £12.50, which includes a light supper.

There will also be a 10km charity walk on April 30, details of which will be announced nearer the time.

Since its launch, the charity has raised £170,000 to pay for children’s education, build schools and classrooms and purchase teaching equipment.

It is planning a number of new projects this year including vocational training for 20 orphaned teenagers and refresher training for more than 200 pre-school teachers.
