AN addiction support centre which helps drug addicts held its first Recovery Conference.
The Henley Recovery Café, which holds meetings once a month at the d:two centre in Market Place, organised the conference with talks from seven speakers including founder Huseyin Djemil and fellow former drug addict Colin Powell.
More than 80 people attended the six-hour event, where the other speakers were Wendy Dawson, of rehab centre the Ley Community, Mark Gilma, of Public Health England, Treflyn Lloyd-Roberts, of the International Substance Abuse and Addictions Coalition, Andy Partington, of Yeldall Manor rehab centre, near Wargrave, and Kathy Gyngell, from the Centre for Policy Studies.
There was an open mic session at the end of the conference for the audience to talk about their own experiences.
Goodie bags with gifts and envelopes to donate to drug charities were handed out at the end.
