Charity walker raises £1,000

A FORMER student of The Henley College raised more than £1,000 for charity by completing a sponsored walk.

Phoebe McHale, 23, walked a 30km stretch of the Thames Path in six hours and 20 minutes.

She was raising money for the Raleigh International Trust, which organises volunteer projects around the world.

Miss McHale joined the trail at Eton at 7.50am and walked through Dorney, Bray, Maidenhead, Cookham, Bourne End, Marlow and Hurley before finishing at Remenham, where her family lives.

She said: “It was a dark, cold morning but at least it wasn’t raining. I followed the path from Eton to Cookham at a reasonably fast pace.
