Touring Santa raises £2,750

THE Goring, Woodcote and District Lions Club raised £2,748.72 for local charities with door-to-door collections in the run-up to Christmas.

Members toured South Oxfordshire villages with Santa on his sleigh and volunteer “elves” to collect donations while playing carols.

In Sonning Common the Lions were helped by Shirehall Rugby Club and in Woodcote and Goring by the village primary schools’ parent-teacher associations.

Each group will be given half of what they collected for a charity project of their choice.

The totals collected by area were: Sonning Common £736; Goring £785.04; Woodcote £470.21; Whitchurch Hill £347; Whitchurch £410.47.
