Collection record

FIREFIGHTERS in Goring raised a record £5,726 at their annual charity collection day on the village bridge.

They sold tea, coffee and bacon rolls provided by Pierreponts café in High Street.

Organiser Duncan Kent said the takings were boosted by the closure of Whitchurch toll bridge, which meant more traffic passed through Goring.

“It is also a reflection of the wonderful generosity of the residents of Goring and Streatley,” he said.

The proceeds were donated to the BBC’s Children In Need appeal.
