Helping mothers

HENLEY’S Oxfam shops are appealing for donations.

The charity has launched the Mother Appeal to raise money and help women around the world to lift their families out of poverty.

Money raised from items sold in January, February and March will be doubled as part of the Government’s UK Aid Match, which is designed to boost public support for charities working in the developing world.

Sabine Adams, manager of the Oxfam Books and Music shop in Duke Street, said: “January is the perfect time for a clear-out and we can turn your good quality, unwanted items into cash to fund Oxfam’s work fighting poverty around the world.”

The Mother Appeal, which runs until Mother’s Day on March 30, encourages people to celebrate motherhood and has a target of £10 million. For more information, visit www.oxfam.org.uk/mother-appeal
