Rowing round Britain with just sharks for company

A TEACHER from Henley is preparing to row solo around the British coastline for charity.

Sarah Weldon will leave the town on May 28 and row down the Thames towards its estuary before embarking on the 2,000-mile voyage.

The 37-year-old, who has never rowed before, will be at sea for about 13 weeks as she goes round Britain anti-clockwise, although she will make stops along the way.

Miss Weldon is raising money for Oceans Project, a charity she founded while teaching in the former Soviet republic of Georgia in 2010.

She is also practising for when she bids to become the first person to complete the same voyage by rowing non-stop solo next year.
