Volunteers required

THE Watlington branch of the Royal British Legion is appealing for a Poppy Appeal organiser and a standard bearer.

The appeal is an essential source of funds for the Legion’s work and the organiser’s role involves overseeing arrangements for door-to-door and street collections as well as those at businesses and schools.

The branch says a three-year term would be practical and the busy months are October and November.

Anyone interested should call the current organiser Penny Boas on (01491) 613233 or secretary Jim Stubbs on (01491) 614278 or email james.stubbs147@ btinternet.com

Standard bearer Chris Williams will be relocating later this year. His replacement will be required to attend on Remembrance Sunday and, whenever possible, at funerals and other special occasions.
