Poppy Appeal success

MORE than £10,500 was raised by Watlington’s Poppy Appeal last year.

Volunteers who held collections in the town and surrounding area for two weeks before Remembrance Sunday in November raised £7,617.90.

The Watlington branch of the Royal British Legion raised another £3,000 at a fete held in branch president Brigadier Nigel Mogg’s garden in Church Lane on the August bank holiday weekend.

A party was held at Watlington Sports Pavilion to thank the volunteers for their hard work.

Appeal organiser Penny Boas said: “I am always staggered that people are quite so generous.”
