Youngsters lead the way at May Day fun run

A RECORD number of junior runners took part in this year’s Henley Operatic and Dramatic Society May Day fun run.

About 25 under-18s ran the five-mile course, which started and finished at Temple Island Meadows.

The race was won by 15-year-old Peter Cook in a time of 30 minutes and 19 seconds.

Peter, who lives in Belle Vue Road, Henley, and goes to Reading Blue Coat School in Sonning, beat his time from last year by more than a minute.

The Reading Athletic Club runner was one of more than 100 people who took part in the race, which has been going for more than 30 years. This year it raised £200 for the society, a charity.
