Local green fingers sell fruits of labour

RHUBARB proved popular at a plant sale and swap held in Henley town centre.

Herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers were also on offer at Saturday’s sale, which was organised by Henley in Bloom and the Henley Allotments Association, whose members grew the produce. The Greenshoots nursery at Manor Farm in Peppard, which is part of the Ways and Means Trust, also provided plants and all the proceeds will be split between the three organisations.

Kellie Hinton, chairwoman of Henley in Bloom, said: “Everyone grows the plants which we sell and then people are welcome to come along, bring their own plants and change them for others or buy what we have on offer.

“We made £500 despite the fact it was a dreary day weather-wise.”
