Summit on changes to children’s centre

A MEETING will be held to discuss the Rainbow Children’s Centre in Henley.

It follows a review of the service carried out by Action for Children, the charity which runs the centre on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council.

The review was criticised by campaigners who claimed that the loss of experienced staff could harm the service run from the d:two centre in Market Place.

Councillor Pam Phillips told a meeting of the town council: “I understand that five experienced staff have been made redundant because they don’t have a driving licence and it wishes to pool its staff and deploy them in the various centres.

“I am really distressed about this. The information is that there will be no continuous staff in each centre so it will be impossible to get the best from the children’s centres.”
