A FORMER TV newsreader gave a talk called “Breaking News” in Wargrave on Saturday.
Norman Rees, who lives in the village, spoke about the stories he covered during a 30-year career as a reporter and Washington correspondent for ITN, including the Falklands War and the troubles in Northern Ireland.
More than 80 people turned up for the event at Woodclyffe Hall in High Street.
Afterwards, guests were served a curry dinner by the Haweli Indian restaurant in Twyford.
The event raised £1,500 for the 21st Century Project, a £500,000 appeal to refurbish and modernise St Mary’s Church in Station Road.
