A HAT shop has won the 2014 Henley regatta window display competition.
The theme of this year’s contest was the regatta between the war years (1919 to 1939) and Liz Felix Millinery and Accessories in Reading Road featured vintage items handed down her family, including her uncle’s original clothing book.
Mrs Felix was presented with a cheque for £150, the Perpetual Cup and a bottle of champagne. She also wins afternoon tea with the Mayor and Mayoress of Henley.
She said: “I’m delighted and very excited to have won. I thought I might have gone a bit over the top!”
Mrs Felix, 50, of Bridle Road, Whitchurch Hill, only took over the former premises of antique shop One-Offs of Henley in May. Henley Mayor Martin Akehurst, who attended the presentation in an old army uniform, said the competition had excellent support from businesses, which was a tribute to those who had given their lives in the wars.
