Concerts raise £1,200

SUMMER concerts held in Sonning Common raised £1,200 for local groups.

Nottakwire, a community singing group, held two concerts in the village hall on successive days last month.

Each concert was attended by about 120 people, who joined in with the choruses of First World War songs performed by soloist Cliff Pryke.

A medley from Les Misérables was performed by soloists Claire Holland, Susan Rusman, Chrissie Phillips- Tilbury and Peter Dayton.

Gospel numbers included Kum-Ba-Yah, Go Down Moses, Standing in the Need of Prayer and If I Had a Hammer.
