THE Wombles of Wimbledon are to make an appearance at the Rotherfield Greys village fete.
Members of the fete committee are to dress up as the Seventies TV characters to mark the 60th anniversary of Keep Britain Tidy.
The fete will be held at Greys Court on Sunday, September 7, starting at 1pm, and will feature children’s games, stalls and refreshements.
Organiser Gillian Ovey said: “Lady Brunner, who used to own Greys Court, founded the Keep Britain Tidy campaign 60 years ago and was associated with it until her death in 2003.
“In honour of her, we are theming this year’s fete around Keep Britain Tidy and the Wombles, who liked picking up litter on Wimbledon Common.
