Tea party raises funds for further festivities

A TEA party raised more than £60 towards a social club’s Christmas party.

Ann and Chris Eggleton welcomed about 20 people to their home in Gainsborough Crescent, Henley.

The proceeds will be donated to the Henley Over-60s Club in Greys Road car park.

Mr Eggleton said: “We’re very pleased — it was a good turnout, the weather stayed nice for us and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it. We’re both members of the club and we like to support it as much as possible.”

The couple’s daughter Michelle Gosby made tea and coffee and friends donated home-made cakes.

At the club’s Christmas party last year 60 guests were served roast turkey with all the trimmings followed by Christmas pudding and custard, mince pies and coffee.

Members of the Sacred Heart Primary School choir entertained the diners with carols and a clarinet player performed.

A table top sale organised by the Gainsborough Residents Association, is being held in the Scout Hut on Greys Road on Saturday.
