Italian-style lunch raises £600

AN Italian-themed lunch raised £600 for good causes in Sonning Common.

Seventy people attended the event in the village hall on Friday, which included a raffle and a book stall.

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal of prosciutto and melon to start, a main course of chicken cacciotore with salad and ciabatta and tiramisu for pudding followed by tea and coffee.

The Henley branch of Tesco donated Primitivo wines and food was provided by the Co-op store in Sonning Common. Occasions sold tickets and the Nottakwire singing group paid for the hire of the hall.

Chrissie Phillips-Tilbury, who organised the event, said: “Not only was this a fund-raising success but a really enjoyable community event with 70 people chatting and enjoying a leisurely lunch in a real community atmosphere.”
