Charity is refused blue badge for new £60,000 Handibus

A CHARITY that transports disabled people in Henley is protesting after being refused a blue badge for its new minibus.

The Henley and District Handibus has lodged an appeal against the decision made by officials at Oxfordshire County Council.

The charity, which is due to take delivery of the £60,000 minibus at the end of the month, has always been granted a blue badge in the past.

Chairman Phil Perry said: “I thought, ‘this is a mistake, this doesn’t make sense’. It was surprise and disbelief that they should do this after all these years.

“Of course we need a blue badge, it’s what we do.”
