River operator Hobbs of Henley has donated £500 to the South Oxfordshire branch of Cancer Research UK.
The money was raised at an evening cruise on its flagship vessel The New Orleans, which was attended by 82 people. The event included a performance by the Liberty Street Jazz Band, which gave a share of its fee towards the proceeds.
Kim Clifford, the company’s general manager, said: “Cancer will, sadly, affect everyone at some point in their lives so we wanted to support this very worthwhile charity.” Volunteer Lynn Atkinson said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the generosity of both Hobbs of Henley and the band and would like to thank them for their kind support.”
The branch is looking for more volunteers to help organise fund-raising events. For more information, visit www.cancerresearchuk.org
