A DOCTOR raised £2,700 for charity after completing two half marathons.

Ralph Drury, a GP at Sonning Common Health Centre, completed the Solar Eclipse Half Marathon in Australia in November, having already taken part in the Reading Half Marathon in April.

The money will be donated to the Sue Ryder hospice at Nettlebed.

Dr Drury finished the second race in Port Douglas, Queensland, in two hours and finished 10th.

The starting gun was fired to coincide with the total solar eclipse.

Dr Drury said: “It was incredibly hot and humid but there was a great atmosphere and seeing the total solar eclipse from the beach in Queensland with thousands of others was awesome.”
