Sir William and Lady McAlpine want to mark the centenary of their Hudswell Clarke 060 Saddlea Tank Engine No 31 at their Fawley Hill estate. It is a working engine that has been in the family for all its working life.

The event, which will take place on May 18 and 19, will celebrate all forms of transport, from bicycles to planes.

Attractions will include a Hurricane, Spitfire and Red Arrow, stationary engines, traction engines, horse-drawn ploughs, JCBs, steam cars, Ferraris, buses and even boats. Other attractions will include the animal sanctuary and a vintage fairground and there will be live performances managed by the Kenton Theatre in Henley and Morris dancing, Musician Sam Brown, from Sonning Common, will perform with 100 ukuleles players.

Lady McAlpine said: “We need volunteers please — marshals, runners and set-up help, anything which saves expenditure and puts more money into the charity coffers.”

Tickets are £10 per day or £16 for the weekend (concessions £8 and £14). Children under 12 enter free. For more information or to enter a vehicle, call (01491) 571373, email estate@fawley.com or visit www.fawleyhill.co.uk
