Triathlon at festival

A TRIATHLON will be held in Wargrave this summer as part of the village festival.

A TRIATHLON will be held in Wargrave this summer as part of the village festival.

The event is the first of its kind in the village and will take place on Sunday, June 16.

It will consist of a 750m swim in the Thames, a 20km cycle ride along the A4 and a 5km run.

The transition area and finish line will be at Mill Green. No roads will be closed during the event.

The event is being organised by parents of children at the Piggott Schools and it’s hoped that 150 people will take part.

Jo Hall, from Hare Hatch, said: “Wargrave is full of budding athletes and everyone seems to be doing Iron Man challenges at the moment, so we thought we would seize the opportunity and organise a sports event as part of the festival.

“Our aim is to hold a fun competition, open to athletes of all abilities, in a warm, welcoming and supportive atmosphere. All profits will go to local charities.”
