MORE than 130 swimmers took part in Henley Lions Club’s annual Swimarathon on Saturday and raised £3,950.06 for charity.

Mayor Elizabeth Hodgkin officially opened the event, which involved 20 teams completing as many lengths of the LA Fitness pool as they could within 40 minutes.

Teams from local primary schools including Valley Road, St Mary’s, Trinity and Nettlebed were among those taking part. Other teams included Mencap, Henley sea cadets and the guides.

Half of the proceeds will go to the Lions’ chosen charity and the other half will be donated to charities of each team’s choice.
